Described are combinations of implantable and external means for providing pain relief to patients suffering from prostatitis, prostatalgia or prostatodynia which employ electrical and/or magnetic stimulation to effect such relief. Implantable medical electrical leads or wireless modules comprising one or more electrodes deliver electrical stimulation to a selected site of a patient adjacent, around or in one of the sacral nerve or branches or portions thereof, the pudendal nerve or branches or portions thereof, the hypogastric nerve or branches or portions thereof, the prostatic plexus nerve or branches or portions thereof, the sacral splanchnic nerve or branches or portions thereof, or the pelvic splanchnic nerve or branches or portions thereof in an amount or degree sufficient to provide at least partial relief from pain intramuscular lead system. Optionally, an external or internal drug pump may be employed in conjunction with the electrical stimulation provided to the patient.

An energy therapy device is provided that utilizes an array of energy-emitting elements to stimulate Qi energy flow along acupuncture meridians. Energy-emitting elements are activated and deactivated sequentially to produce an energy wave. The energy wave is brought into contact with, or in close proximity to, anatomical sites on a patient’s body that have underlying acupuncture meridians. The energy wave produced by the energy therapy device stimulates the flow of Qi energy resulting in a number of therapeutic benefits including pain relief, and reduction of inflammation.

FIELD: medicine. ^ SUBSTANCE: method involves administering medicamentous therapy and electric stimulation with low frequency current pulses treating skeletal muscles after having achieved rapid relief of pain syndrome symptoms and stabilized hemodynamic pattern. Two 1 h long sessions are applied in every day mode. Electric stimulation treatment starts beginning from the second day with series of 16 s long pulses with 5 s long pauses and frequency of 2110 to 12010 Hz having trapezoid pulse amplitude envelope pattern. Direct abdominal muscles, dorsal extensors, gluteal muscles and posterior femoral muscles, anterior femoral muscles, gastrocnemius muscle both symmetrically right and left are stimulated. When applying the first session, any four channels are used for carrying out stimulation. The second one is carried out using other four channels

System and method for pain management therapy that provides customized signal analysis for each patient’s perception of pain. In addition, the pain relief response to the sensed brain wave signals indicating perceived pain can also be customized for each patient. An implantable medical device system senses and analyzes a brain wave signal for an indication of pain. Feedback control for providing pain management therapy with the implantable medical device system is provided based on the indication of pain from the analysis of the brain wave signal. The brain wave signal can continue to be sensed and analyzed to determine whether the pain management therapy is effective in reducing or eliminating the indication of pain in the brain wave signal. Based on the analysis, parameters used to control the amount of pain management therapy and/or the type of pain management therapy can be adjusted.
